The DUCHESS interview-bot asks you a series of questions and lets you answer them at your own pace. It really is a like a fireside chat. I would ‘talk’ to DUCHESS (for talking is exactly what you do) for a few hours a week over three or four months. The Fireside Dispatches team swiftly turned around a hard-copy draft (with photos) for me to review and correct.
BIO
Sarah and Darrell, founders of Fireside Dispatches both have backgrounds working in Defence. We regularly interview serving military personnel to provide inputs to research projects, being inspired by the experiences that our interviewees have had.
These interviews led to us developing DUCHESS who is able to turn spoken interviews into text, throwing in some probing questions to encourage interviewees to expand on their responses. This technology was initially sponsored by the Royal Navy for post deployment Lessons Learned interviews.
With an interest in the personal experiences of military history and recognising the value of passing these on to become a part of family history, Fireside Dispatches was born.
