When we talk about 'One Deployment,' we mean it in the broadest sense. It could be an operational deployment, an exercise, a posting, or a particular period of your military service that stands out. This is about capturing a period of time that was significant for you.

Your interview will start with a question around your motivation for joining up to set the scene for your book, as however long you served for, there was a beginning! Then we jump to the deployment that you want to talk about. We'll cover your routine, the stand out moments, key people and the impact it had on you. But these questions are wide open and your responses will guide the conversation, so talk about what is important to you and skip any questions you don't want to answer.

 

Memories don’t always come all at once. Sometimes, a story resurfaces later, triggered by a photograph, a conversation, or even a quiet moment of reflection so there’s no pressure to complete everything in one go. If you remember more details later or want to add to your story, you can repeat the interview as many times as you like.

The word limit is 5000 words which equates to around 20 pages plus photos. There is no limit to the number of photos you can include. We will do a full edit once you have finished your interview, merging all of your responses and adding your photos. Once we are happy, we'll send it to you for you to approve before we send it to the printers.

The cover is up to you - if you have a photo you would like to feature on the cover that's great but equally we can design a cover to reflect the content of your book. This is your book - personal to you, we don't limit you to generic templated designs.
